UWL Golden Eagle Invitational

At the UWL Golden Eagle Invitational on March 22nd, several athletes put on a show, setting personal records (PRs), breaking school records, and claiming victories across a wide range of events. Both teams took home 1st place!

Hoff

Matt Hoff made history, breaking the 1978 sophomore record in the Mile and anchoring the winning 4x400m relay team.  Abry Bloyer continued his strong season with top 3 finishes in both the 55m Dash and the 200m Dash.

In the hurdles, Jakai Ayed also had a stellar day, winning the 55m Hurdles while tying the school record. He was also the first leg of the victorious 4x400m relay team. Alivia Wickstrom, Macy Keim, and Bela Waters all set new PRs, and made the finals contributing to the team’s overall success.

UWL Invite

Naomi Wedan had a standout performance in the 400m Dash, achieving an impressive 8-second PR. Sabrina Lechnir delivered a strong showing with an event win in the 1600m and a runner-up finish in the 800m. Jack Barth claimed victory in the 400m Dash, further adding to the team’s successes. Ryland Eickhoff set a PR in the 55m Dash and tied the 3rd fastest time in Holmen history, and Jaren Nygren hit a PR in the same race. Lydia Lazarescu set a junior class record in the 55m Dash, while Mason Moss improved his time with a PR in the 800m Run. Jon Rosenow also earned PRs in both the 800m Run and the High Jump, adding to the team’s remarkable performance.

In the field events, Alexa Szak dominated the High Jump, and Brenna Schmidt took top honors in the Shot Put. The pole vaulters, Kendall Kozlowski, Emersen Strangstalien, and Dane Mueller all set career PRs, while Kyle Dreyer achieved a PR in the Shot Put. 

The team showed strong depth in the relays, with the boys 4x400m relay team winning by 3 seconds to clinch first place overall. 

Overall, the UWL Golden Eagle Invitational was a great start to the season, with multiple PRs, school records, and top performances across the board. It was a day that highlighted the team’s ability and set the stage for even more success in the season ahead.
