Holmen’s Boys JV Wrestlers Shine at 2025 WWA JV State Finals

The Holmen High School JV wrestling team delivered a strong performance at the 2025 WWA JV State Finals, securing a 6th-place team finish out of 134 teams with a total of 95 points. With standout performances across multiple weight classes, Holmen’s athletes demonstrated skill, determination, and grit against some of the best wrestlers in the state.

Top Performers for Holmen

113 lbs – Jin Xiong (3rd Place, 21.5 Points)

Jin Xiong had a stellar tournament, capturing 3rd place with a series of dominant matches. Xiong showcased technical mastery, winning four matches by technical fall, including a 19-3 victory in the consolation bracket. He capped his performance with a decisive pin in 2:49 over Fritz Beversdorf (Stevens Point) in the 3rd place match.

150 lbs – Nolan Knapmiller (2nd Place, 25.5 Points)

Nolan Knapmiller powered his way to the finals with two pins and a technical fall. In the championship match, he fought hard but fell just short, losing a narrow 7-4 decision to Jackson Lichty (Neenah). Knapmiller’s runner-up finish was one of the highlights for Holmen, earning him the team’s highest individual point total.

150 lbs – Josiah Kulmaczewski (3rd Place, 18.0 Points)

Josiah Kulmaczewski battled his way to a 3rd place finish in the 150-lb bracket, displaying resilience after a tough quarterfinal loss. He avenged his defeat in a rematch against Alex O’Donnell (Middleton), edging out a 5-4 decision to secure the bronze medal.

126 lbs – Olie Strasser (6th Place, 13.0 Points)

Olie Strasser had an impressive run to the semifinals, earning two pins along the way. Although he fell short in the 5th place match, Strasser’s contributions were vital to Holmen’s team score.

Notable Contributions

  • 113 lbs – Conley Vogel (7.5 Points)
    Vogel started strong with a pair of dominant wins but was edged out in the quarterfinals and consolation rounds.

  • 132 lbs – Caleb Eggerichs (15.0 Points)
    Eggerichs showcased his potential with four pins, including a lightning-fast fall in just 18 seconds in the consolation bracket.

  • 138 lbs – Fuxi Xiong (7.0 Points)
    Fuxi added valuable points for Holmen with two falls, one coming in under two minutes.

  • 175 lbs – Shawn DeRuyter (6.0 Points)
    DeRuyter’s pin in the second round contributed to Holmen’s overall score before bowing out in the third consolation round.

Team Results

Holmen finished 6th overall, scoring 95 points. This impressive result came in a highly competitive field of 134 teams, with Kaukauna taking the team title at 206.5 points. Holmen’s depth and hard-fought matches across weight classes earned them their spot in the top 10.

Holmen’s JV squad has plenty to celebrate after this weekend’s success. With such a strong showing at the state finals, the team is already looking ahead to building on this momentum for next season.
