Holmen Vikings

Eau Claire, WI – February 22, 2025

Holmen High School’s boys wrestling team delivered a strong performance at the WIAA Division 1 Sectional A Tournament, held at Eau Claire North. With intense competition on the mats, Holmen saw three wrestlers punch their tickets to the WIAA Individual State Tournament in Madison, scheduled for February 27-March 1.

State Qualifiers

Holmen’s standout wrestlers at sectionals included:

     

      • Nathan Henderson (120 lbs.)1st Place

           

            • Dominated his bracket with two falls and a tech fall, culminating in a 13-4 major decision victory in the championship match.

        • Jonathon Lamprich (165 lbs.)1st Place

             

              • Secured his title with a tech fall, a hard-fought decision in the semifinals, and a 12-9 decision in the championship bout.

          • Rex Lancaster (106 lbs.)2nd Place

               

                • Battled through the bracket with a fall and a tech fall before dropping a sudden victory decision in the finals.

          Other Notable Performances

          Several Holmen wrestlers came close to advancing but fell just short in the final rounds:

             

              • Turner Campbell (126 lbs.) – 3rd place, scored 14.5 team points.

              • Noah Henderson (138 lbs.) – 3rd place, scored 14.0 team points.

              • AJ Alesch (150 lbs.) – 3rd place, scored 13.5 team points.

              • Brock Needham (132 lbs.) – 4th place, scored 8.0 team points.

              • Colin Griffin (157 lbs.) – 4th place, scored 7.0 team points.

            Despite these strong showings, only the top two finishers in each weight class qualify for state, leaving some of Holmen’s wrestlers just outside the cut.

            Looking Ahead

            The three state qualifiers will now turn their attention to the Kohl Center in Madison, where they will compete among the best in the state. With a mix of experienced and young talent, Holmen wrestling continues to prove its strength in one of the state’s most competitive regions.
