In front of a packed house filled with energy and anticipation, the Holmen Vikings wrestling team clinched the MVC Conference Championship with an impressive 41-25 victory over the Aquinas Blugolds. The matchup featured two powerhouse programs, with Holmen ranked #3 in Division 1 and Aquinas holding the #3 spot in Division 3. The Vikings’ well-rounded performance proved too much for Aquinas despite their early success.

Vikings Rally After Early Deficit

The night began with Aquinas jumping out to an early lead in the upper weight classes. Isaac Miller (190) won a close 5-4 decision over Emerson Lau-Melby, followed by Tyson Martin (215) pinning Conner Degner in just 1:14. Chase Schams (285) secured a narrow 1-0 decision to give Aquinas momentum.

Holmen responded with a statement in the lower weights, starting with Rex Lancaster (106), who delivered a dominant technical fall (20-4). Jin Xiong (113) and Conley Vogel (120) followed with back-to-back pins, shifting the energy firmly in Holmen’s favor.

Pivotal Performances Propel Holmen

The middleweight matches showcased the Vikings’ depth. Turner Campbell (132) delivered a critical fall at 2:11, and Noah Henderson (144) pinned his opponent in just 1:55. Jonathon Lamprich (165) added a decisive fall in 1:29, all but securing Holmen’s path to victory.

Aquinas displayed resilience with standout wins from Martez Sheard (126), Roger Flege (138), and Trevor Paulson (150), but it wasn’t enough to overcome Holmen’s momentum.
