The Holmen baseball team kicked off their 2025 campaign with a solid 4-2 home victory over Eau Claire North on Wednesday afternoon. Strong pitching from Paul Goryl and timely hitting proved to be the difference in the season opener.

Goryl earned the win with an impressive six-inning performance, striking out 10 batters while scattering seven hits and allowing just two runs. Tyler Rosenow closed out the game with a perfect seventh inning, including one strikeout, to earn the save.

Holmen jumped out early, scoring two runs in the first inning and adding another in the second to take a 3-0 lead. Abe Henderson led the offensive attack with two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Joe Meeter scored twice and added a double of his own, while Jude Anderson contributed with a double and a run scored.

Eau Claire North’s Caleb Moss had a strong day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Lavonte Bean also collected two hits and scored a run for the visitors. Ben Mettler took the loss for Eau Claire North, allowing three runs (two earned) over three innings of work.

The Vikings’ defense played error-free baseball behind Goryl and Rosenow, while the pitching staff did not issue a single walk in the contest. Holmen improved to 1-0 on the season with the victory.
