Eau Claire, WI – February 21, 2025
The Holmen High School girls wrestling team delivered a strong performance at the WIAA Girls Sectional C Tournament at Eau Claire North, with two wrestlers punching their tickets to the WIAA Individual State Tournament in Madison, set for February 27 to March 1.
State Qualifiers
- Haley Dezelske (114 lbs.) – 1st Place
- Dezelske was dominant throughout the tournament, pinning all three of her opponents. Her commanding victory in the championship match secured her sectional title and a trip to Madison.
- Allison Weiss (120 lbs.) – 2nd Place
- Weiss battled through her bracket with two wins by fall before falling in the championship match.
Other Notable Performances
Several Holmen wrestlers had strong showings but fell just short of the top two needed to qualify for state:
- Kaytlynn Lambries (107 lbs.) – 3rd place, scored 15.0 team points.
- Peyton Kratochvill (126 lbs.) – 3rd place, scored 14.0 team points.
- Alexa Szak (138 lbs.) – 3rd place, scored 14.0 team points.
- Jozie Collins (132 lbs.) – 4th place, scored 6.0 team points.
- Avalee Euler (165 lbs.) – 4th place, scored 8.0 team points.
While these wrestlers put forth strong efforts, only the top two in each weight class advanced to state.
Looking Ahead
Dezelske and Weiss will now prepare for the WIAA Individual State Tournament at the Kohl Center in Madison, where they will compete among the best in the state. Holmen’s girls wrestling program continues to show its strength, and these two qualifiers will look to make a deep run at state.
