HOLMEN, WI – The Holmen Vikings boys’ basketball team secured a commanding 70-47 home victory over the Tomah Timberwolves on Friday night, fueled by a strong second-half performance.
Holmen started the game with a slight edge, leading 30-26 at halftime. However, the Vikings broke the game open in the third quarter, outscoring Tomah 40-21 in the second half to cruise to the win.
Senior Wilber (#0) led the charge with a team-high 14 points, shooting 83% (5-for-6) from the free-throw line, and adding three assists and two steals. Berget (#21) provided a major spark with 13 points, including three three-pointers and a perfect 2-for-2 from the free-throw line. Eisermann (#3) chipped in nine points, while Lindberg (#10) and Mason (#11) each contributed six points.
Defensively, the Vikings were relentless, racking up 19 steals and 28 total rebounds, led by Rink (#13), who pulled down six rebounds and grabbed two steals. Holmen’s ball movement was also a key factor, with 17 total assists as they effectively spread the floor and created scoring opportunities.
With this victory, the Vikings strengthen their conference record as they continue their push toward postseason play. Holmen will look to carry this momentum into their next matchup against La Crosse Aquinas when they battle for the MVC title on Thursday Feb. 26.
