Holmen Dominates in 10th Consecutive MVC Gymnastics Championship!

The Mississippi Valley Conference (MVC) Gymnastics Meet came to a thrilling conclusion with Holmen High School emerging victorious in their 10th year of MVC championships, clinching the first-place spot with a team score of 139.825. The competition, hosted by Onalaska, marked the fifth and final meet of the MVC season, showcasing fierce talent and impressive performances from athletes across the conference.

Holmen’s gymnasts showed their strength and consistency throughout the event, securing a commanding victory over their closest competitors. Onalaska took second place with a team score of 136.00, followed by Sparta in third with 133.45. La Crosse Central/Logan placed fourth with 133.4, while Tomah rounded out the field in fifth with 118.175.

All-Around Champion: Katie Lange

Holmen’s Katie Lange was the standout of the meet, earning first place in the All-Around competition with a personal best score of 37.05. Her exceptional performance across all events helped lead her team to victory. The All-Around podium was rounded out by Gabrielle Bjorkman from Sparta in second with 36.55, and Eva Dryer from Onalaska in third with 35.5.

Event Highlights:

  • Vault: The vault competition was tightly contested, with Gabrielle Bjorkman from Sparta taking first place with a score of 9.375. Holmen’s Katie Lange followed closely in second with a personal best of 9.25, while Danika Parnell from La Crosse claimed third with a score of 9.175.
  • Bars: On the uneven bars, Holmen’s Katie Lange claimed first place with a score of 9.2. Gabrielle Bjorkman from Sparta took second with 9.075, and Nadia Trapnell from Holmen rounded out the top three with 8.75.
  • Beam: Lange continued her dominance on the balance beam, securing first place with a score of 9.2. Elena Wagner from La Crosse followed in second with 9.05, and Molly McBride from Holmen took third with 8.9.
  • Floor: The floor routine saw a strong showing from both teams, with Gabrielle Bjorkman of Sparta and Katie Lange of Holmen tying for first place, each scoring 9.4. Mina Hawkins from Holmen placed third with a score of 9.35.
