Holmen Vikings Boys Wrestling Team Shines at 2024 Bi-State Classic

The Holmen Vikings Boys Wrestling Team showcased their talent and determination at the prestigious 2024 Bi-State Classic, finishing an impressive 2nd place overall out of 72 teams and claiming the 1st place Division 1 title. Hosted by the Vikings themselves, this massive tournament is one of the largest high school wrestling competitions in the nation, drawing elite wrestlers from across the Midwest.

The Vikings’ success was driven by outstanding performances across weight classes, with several wrestlers earning podium finishes. Here’s a closer look at Holmen’s standout competitors:

• Nathan Henderson (120) led the charge, earning 2nd place and contributing 41 team points. Henderson dominated his early matches, securing four consecutive technical falls and a major decision before narrowly falling in a thrilling 3-1 tie-breaker match in the finals.
• Jonathon Lamprich (165) battled his way to a hard-fought 3rd place, adding 32 points to the team score. His resilience and clutch decision wins in the consolation rounds were pivotal to the team’s success.
• Rex Lancaster (106) finished 4th, scoring 35.5 points. Lancaster’s ability to bounce back in the consolation bracket with dominant victories, including a technical fall and a major decision, was crucial.
• Turner Campbell (132) placed 6th, earning 30.5 points. Campbell’s aggressive style saw him notch two falls and a technical fall before injury setbacks led to a medical forfeit.
• Brock Needham (126) took 8th place, contributing 21.5 points with key victories, including a no-contest win and a technical fall.

Other notable contributors included Colin Griffin (157), who placed 11th and scored 17 points, and Noah Henderson (138), who finished 12th and added 15 points. Each wrestler displayed the grit and determination that have become hallmarks of the Vikings program.

Holmen’s collective effort highlights the depth of their roster and their ability to excel under pressure. The tournament also served as an excellent showcase for the Vikings’ hosting skills, as they welcomed competitors and fans to one of the most challenging and celebrated events in high school wrestling.
