The Holmen Vikings boys basketball team secured a hard-fought 75-71 victory over Sparta on Tuesday night, completing a season sweep of their conference rivals. The Vikings capitalized on efficient shooting and strong team play to hold off a late push from the Spartans in front of their home crowd.

Holmen edged out Sparta in a high-scoring first half, leading 43-40 at the break. The Vikings continued to execute in the second half, outscoring Sparta 32-31 in a closely contested final two quarters to seal the win.

Key Performances

     

      • Bartels led the Vikings with a game-high 20 points, knocking down six three-pointers.

      • Wilber was a key contributor, scoring 18 points on 54% shooting, including a perfect 3-for-3 from the free-throw line.

      • Berget added 14 points while also grabbing six rebounds and dishing out three assists.

      • Eisermann and Hanson combined for 14 points and made key defensive plays down the stretch.

    Holmen shot efficiently as a team, hitting 46% from the field, 42% from beyond the arc, and an impressive 77% from the free-throw line. Their balanced attack and clutch shooting proved to be the difference in a game that remained competitive from start to finish.

    With this win, Holmen moves to 15-4 overall and 7-2 in conference. The Vikings will look to carry this energy into their Thursday matchup against Central at home as they continue to push for a conference title.
