The Coulee Region Cyclones girls hockey team faced a tough 5-0 loss against Rochester Mayo on Tuesday night. Despite the scoreline, the Cyclones played with heart and determination, controlling stretches of the game but coming up short on the scoreboard.
Rochester Mayo struck early, scoring two goals in the first period to grab the momentum. The Cyclones tightened up defensively in the second period, holding Mayo scoreless while generating offensive chances of their own. Despite outshooting their opponent, the Cyclones couldn’t capitalize.
Rochester added three goals in the third period to break the game open. Despite the setback, the Cyclones continued to compete until the final horn.
The Cyclones face a challenging weekend ahead, taking on Superior on Friday and Hudson on Saturday as they look to rebound and return to the win column.
