The OHA-L team had a big day at the Santa Clause Invite at Eau Claire North High School. While we placed 9th, we had almost universal best times across the board.

The meet was opened with the 200 Medley Relay. Warrick Ranis, Seth Russell, Deacon Durnil and Landon Baarsdeth placed 8th.

In the 200 Freestyle, Preston Pierce swam his very first 200 Freestyle in the JV division, placing 9th. In the Varsity Division, Seth Russell placed 7th.

The next event was the 200 Individual Medley. Colton Klein swam his very first 200 IM and placed 13th.

This was followed by the JV 50 yard Freestyle. In this event, Zach Winchill placed 35th, while Conner Peterson placed 32nd and Grayson Wirth placed 22nd. In the Varsity 50 Freestyle, Wesley Ranis and Kyle Stephany placed 29th and 28th respectively and Landon Baarsdeth placed 23rd. 

OHA-L didn’t have any swimmers in the 100 Butterfly, so OHA-L’s next event was the 100 Freestyle. In the JV Division, Preston Pierce and Zach Winchill placed took 29th and 28th respectively, and Conner Peterson placed 25th. In the Varsity Division, Landon Baarsdeth placed 30th, Wesley Ranis placed 28th, and Deacon Durnil placed 8th.

There were no 500 Freestyle swimmers for OHA-L, so the next event for our team was the 200 Freestyle Relay. In the JV Division, the team with Conner Peterson, Preston Pierce, Zach Winchill and Jonny Steele placed 14th. In the Varsity Division, the team made up of Wesley Ranis, Colton Klein, Kyle Stephany, and Landon Baarsdeth placed 9th.

In the 100 Backstroke, Grayson Wirth placed 8th for JV. While Warrick Ranis placed 9th and Deacon Durnil placed 7th in the Varsity Division.

In the JV 100 Breaststroke, Jonny Steele placd 10th. In the Varsity Division, Seth Russell placed 20th.

In the final event of the day, the 4×100 Freestyle relay, the team made up of Seth Russell, Wesley Ranis, Warrick Ranis and Deacon Durnil placed 8th.

This was a very competitive meet with several large teams. Our team raced hard and swam well individually. Our next meet will be home triangular meet against La Crosse and Eau Claire. We will host at the Onalaska YMCA on January 9th at 7PM. Make sure to come and cheer us on!
