The OHA Polar Bears were running with a much lighter roster for the Stoughton College Invitational. The unique thing about the College Invitational is that athletes swim collegiate events. While most of our swimmers chose to stick with shorter events, Seth Russell chose to step outside the usual high school events and opt for a few longer events.
OHA’s first event was the 1000 Freestyle. He placed 7th overall in the event, with a new best time.
This was followed by the 200 Freestyle. Kyle Stephany placed 22nd, while Colton Klein placed 17th with a new best time.
This was followed by the 50 Freestyle. Preston Pierce placed 25th, Jonny Steele placed 23rd behind Grayson Wirth who placed 21st, and Landon Baarsdeth placed 14th. All were right on their best times.
The next event for OHA was the 100 Freestyle. Preston Pierce took 26th behind Jonny Steele, Kyle Stephany and Grayson Wirth, who placed 23rd, 22nd and 21st respectively. They followed Colton Klein and Landon Baarsdeth who placed 18th and 17th respectively.
After the 100 Freestyle, Landon Baarsdeth, Grayson Wirth, Preston Pierce and Colton Klein competed in the 200 Freestyle Relay, taking 12th.
The final individual event for OHA was the 200 Backstroke, where Seth Russell competed. He took 11th in the event with a new best time!
In the final relay, the 4×100 relay, Landon Baarsdeth, Kyle Stephany, Colton Klein and Seth Russell swam for OHA. Their relay took 12th overall with almost everyone on that relay team went best splits on that relay.
Although they were racing with a smaller roster, the boys raced hard and supported each other. It was a good meet. Their next meet will be on January 25th in Platteville!!
