On January 9th, the OHA boys hosted a tough meet against the La Crosse Co-op and the Eau Claire Alliance Co-op. Although they did not come out on top as a team, as individuals, it was a good meet.
In the 200 Medley Relay, Warrick Ranis, Danny Ott, Deacon Durnil and Seth Russell placed 4th, while the B relay with Landon Baarsdeth, Kyle Stephany, Colton Klein and Wesley Ranis took 5th.
In the JV 200 Freestyle, Preston Pierce placed 5th. In the Varsity 200 Freestyle, Kyle Stephany placed 6th, while Seth Russell took 3rd.
In the Varsity 200 Individual Medley, Colton Klein took 5th place in his first attempt at the event. Danny Ott placed 2nd!
Next was JV 50 freestyle. For OHA, Jonny Steele took 6th place while Wesley Ranis placed 3rd. In the Varsity event, Landon Baarsdeth placed 4th with a new best time. While Deacon Durnil took 2nd with a new season best time!
After the 50 freestyle, there was a 15 minute break. After the break, Deaon Durnil got up to swim the 100 Butterfly. He took first with a new best time.
This was followed be the 100 Freestyle. In the JV event, Colton Klein took 5th while Landon Baarsdeth took 3rd. In Varsity 100 Freestyle, Wesley Ranis took 5th, while Danny Ott placed 3rd.
Seth Russell and Warrick Ranis represented OHA in the 500 Freestyle. Warrick placed 5th a new season best, while Seth won the event with a new season best.
OHA had two 200 Freestyle Relays. The B Relay made up of Grayson Wirth, Preston Pierce, Zach Winchell and Conner Peterson placed 6th. While the A Relay made up of Danny Ott, Colton Klein, Wesley Ranis, and Landon Baarsdeth took 4th place.
In the 100 Backstroke, Warrick Ranis was the lone OHA athlete, and he placed 4th in the Varsity event.
The final individual event was the 100 Breaststroke. Kyle Stephany and Jonny Steele placed 5th and 6th respectively.
In the 4×100 Freestyle Relay, OHA had one relay. The A Relay, with Deacon Durnil, Kyle Stephany, Warrick Ranis, and Seth Russell placed 4th.
Overall, it was a good meet for the Polar Bears, with several season and lifetime bests. It bodes well for the end of the season. The Polar Bears’ next meet is in Stoughton on Saturday for the Stoughton College Invite!
