Aquinas Holds Off Late Holmen Rally for MVC Victory

The Mississippi Valley Conference (MVC) clash between Aquinas and Holmen lived up to the hype, delivering an exciting contest from beginning to end. Holmen started strong, grabbing an early 5-0 lead, but Aquinas quickly answered with a 6-point run of their own. The teams traded baskets throughout the first half, battling back and forth until a late surge by Aquinas gave them a 35-25 advantage at halftime.
Aquinas looked to be pulling away in the second half, extending their lead to 54-35 with six minutes remaining. However, Holmen mounted a furious comeback, narrowing the gap to just six points at 64-58 with only 34 seconds on the clock. Ultimately, Aquinas held their nerve, converting crucial free throws down the stretch to secure a 69-58 victory.
Holmen’s effort was spearheaded by junior Charley Casey, who posted an impressive double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Freshman Makenzie Nunemacher also contributed significantly, adding 15 points. With the loss, Holmen’s record stands at 7-8 overall and 4-3 in the MVC.
